A selection of my photography, astronomy, and engineering work

Photography

Several of my photos have been featured at The Post I am a sports photographer for this publication. For me this was a tremendous opportunity and a chance to show my work to the world. It made me step up and become more professional in how I approach my photography and what I take pictures of.

Astronomy

These are some various pictures that I produced through my telescope and my camera. The telescope works through taking images and stacking them together to multiply light and by doing that hundreds of times it is able to enhance detail. All of this is also done while accounting for the rotation of the Earth. This has been really interesting and enhanced my technological literacy through reading about all the stacking and how it can be done.

Research

I was apart of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) program at my college of Ohio University. This program is about developing a proposal to fit inside of a limited amount of space in a test tube that could eventually be flown on the International Space Station. Our group did a proposal based on Field’s Metal solidification in microgravity aboard the International Space Station. This project was based around water and calcium chloride generating heat and melting the Field’s metal. We placed among the top three qualifiers among all the other competitive proposals. The test tube we received for this year was different compared to previous years. However, for us these new tubes were received four days before the proposal was due. Our work was based upon previous hardware and the tube from before. When our group was conducting new tests the test tube warped and deformed. So we decided to pull out and let another group proceed onwards. This was really unfortunate for us because we had worked so hard on developing this proposal and verifying safety through series of experiment.

Rocket Project

I have always been interested in rockets and building things that move. I got an opportunity with Ohio University’s Rocket Club to earn my Level-1 certification. Through assembling and launching a high power rocket kit. I learned about structural assembly, aerodynamics, and the procedures required for a successful flight. There were also only three electronic bays available , so I let the seniors use them in their rockets since they are graduating soon. Being apart of Rocket Club I have had the opportunity to get mentorship and knowledge from seniors. I really did learn a lot about assembling a rocket, my parachute deployed perfectly and there no damage to the rocket when it landed. This is something I will continue to do and improve on. Eventually getting a job at NASA or the aerospace design industry is one of my personal goals.
